BALWEST METHODIST CHAPEL: The service on Sunday was conducted by the Rev Steven Wild and included a baptism. The Rev Beverly Turner will conduct the service on Sunday.

PRIMARY SCHOOL: Head Teacher, Lucy Wandless, welcomed pupils back to a new school year, extending a special welcome to new pupils and their families. She said that the school is pleased with the building work that has taken place over the summer and she’s sure everyone will agree that the work undertaken to the Diamond and Sapphire classrooms has greatly improved the buildings. In addition the changes made to the library, computer suite and the Emeralds’ classroom will make a huge difference to the children. There is now some additional space to undertake learning activities and work with small groups. The laptops are now being used in classrooms and it is hoped to purchase more.

The reception children in Emerald class have settled in well and this half-term they will be focussing on the topics “The Big Build” and “All About Me”.

LITTLE DOLPHINS PRE-SCHOOL: This term Bruce, Zennor, George Will, Jesse, Charlie, Jack and Evie were welcomed. The children will be looking at autumn fruits, apple printing and making blackberry tie-dye T-shirts. They will also be celebrating harvest festival and Diwali. The popular Dinky Dolphins, mother and toddler group, continues on Wednesdays from 1.30-3pm at £2 a visit. For more information please telephone 07799721377.

COMMUNITY ASSOCIATION (GCCA): Plans are in process to open a Tuesday night youth project operating at the Methodist chapel schoolroom for a couple of hours each week. GCCA have been working for the last year to try to provide more for the children and young people, and with the help of volunteers from the village are on the verge of opening up this much needed facility, hopefully up and running later in September or early October.
