CROWAN CHURCH: Harvest Festival was celebrated at St Crewenna Parish Church on Sunday. The bells rang to welcome the congregation to come and give thanks for the harvest. The music was played by Christine and the readers were Sheila and Ann. Prayers of intersession were read by Lynne. The young people carried through offerings of fruit, vegetables and flowers which were blessed by the Rev Dom during the first hymn of Come you Thankful People Come. During the service symbols of harvest were brought to the altar and blessed by the vicar, there were symbols of grain, wheat, oats, vegetables, fruit, flowers, wine and bread. . Thanks were sent to everyone who helped to decorate the church for the harvest celebrations.

There was an evensong service on Friday followed by pasties and on Sunday evening there was a songs of praise service where the congregation were joined by members of Troon Methodist Church and Leedstown Methodist Church. Members of the three churches were asked to choose favourite hymns. Poems were read by Tom Christopher and Alister Macloyd. The service was followed by refreshments. Thanks were sent to the members of the other churches who came along to join in and help make the harvest celebrations such a success. Offerings of fruit, vegetables and flowers from the service will be distributed to the sick and elderly of the parish.

Thank you to everyone at the Drym Valley Centre and those who supported the coffee morning held there. The wonderful amount of £200 was raised for church funds.

Please note that as from Sunday, October 19 the morning service will be held at 11.15am.

NANCEGOLLAN VILLAGE HALL: On Saturday and Sunday the hall will be holding a Flower and Craft Festival. Craft table bookings are £15.00 for the two days and £8.00 for one day. The Festival begins at 10.30am and runs until 4pm. There will be a raffle and refreshments will be available. There will be a £1.00 entry to come in and see the beautiful flower displays and visitors will be able to purchase unusual and different gifts from the many and varied craft stalls. Come along and browse for a unique and original Christmas gift or something special for yourself.

On Monday there will be a Quiz Night beginning at 8pm. There will also be a raffle and refreshments. Come along and test your general knowledge. This is planned to be a fun night with nothing too testing and everyone is welcome.

TOWNSHEND VILLAGE HALL: The Film Night will be held on Saturday. This month's film is ‘Saving Grace’ which is an entertaining, funny film shot in Cornwall and staring Brenda Blethyn. The doors open at 6.45pm and the film starts at 7.30pm. The film club annual membership fee is due in September and this is £5 per person and £3 for the over 60s. If you wish to register on the Film Night, please come early to do so. There will be opportunities to register at other village events.
