On Sunday morning Paul Coombs announced that he had received an update about the young girl we sponsor in Uganda and placed the report in the UCDF Window.

Vestry steward, Paul Combellack, welcomed those in the congregation including Ken Mills from Mullion. In the congregation was Maike Baumann from Switzerland a teacher in training at Breage School.

In the music corner was Paul Jenkin, Paul Coombs and Sarah Fuller. In unison the hymn My faith looks up to Thee was read as a call to worship. Most of the songs were projected onto the screen, by Nigel. The next hymn was How deep the Father's love for us.

Paul Combellack introduced an American YouTube film about Jonah and the big fish, he further explained the Old Testament story to the youngsters and Ken Mills prayed for the children.

Back at the Mullion Chapel it was Harvest Thanksgiving and the offering was taken up by Valerie. There was a mini sermon about The Cross. Another song on the screen was By your side I would stay. Paul C read a portion from one of Eddie Askew's books and Sheila Archer read Psalm 8 v 1-9. The next hymn to delight was Stand up stand up for Jesus. Prayers together were said for the World and the message - fifteen words to change the world was followed by singing When the roll is called up yonder. The blessing and Grace concluded the service.

Those who stayed to chat and have a cuppa met with Maike for a warm welcome.

The evening service was led by the Rev Stephen Bales, who was our minister before he retired. Revelation chapter 22 v17 was read as the call to worship. As the service proceeded Mr Bales said the Methodist Church used to hold a two part system at the end of the main service, some of the congregation who, whatever the reason, never stayed to take the sacrament of the Lord's Supper. The tradition eventually died out, when people started to believe what Jesus said “Do this in remembrance of Me”. Hymns sung were from Hymns and Psalms with Paul Jenkin the organist. Paul Benney read from Isaiah chapter 55, Stephanie Gordon read Luke chapter 2 v 7-20. We were invited to the Celebration of the Last Supper!

Monday at 8pm the monthly prayer was held. Next Saturday at Porthleven Methodist Chapel at 3pm there is A Service of Celebration marking 140 years of the Leprosy Mission with guest speaker David Beazley followed by a cream tea.

Next Sunday Nicola Bicknell is planned to lead a reader service at 10.30am. There is no evening service and a united section service will be held at 6.15pm.
