It was announced that the Pastoral Scheme process has now been completed and that as from November 1, 2014 the Benefice of Breage with Godolphin and Germoe and the Benefice of Porthleven with Sithney have been united to create a new benefice called “The United Benefice of West Kerrier” comprising the parish of Breage with Godolphin and Ashton, parish of Germoe, parish of St Bartholomew, Porthleven and the parish of Sithney, which parishes shall continue distinct. Bishop Chris is now identifying a date when he can come and help inaugurate and celebrate the new benefice.

Canon Michael Porteus presided at the parish eucharist service where All Souls’ and All Saints’ Days were commemorated. At the beginning of the service Diane Whitehead read out the prayers for the commemoration of the faithful departed and the names that people had requested.

Lessons were read by Andrew Bell and Sue Rayment; Joy Gunter led the intercessions and preached on S(s)aints; sidesmen were Rose Shorthouse and Chris McCormack; Gwynneth Willett played the organ and Sue Rayment was sacristan. Canon Michael was assisted at the altar by Joan Chapman and Geoff Helmore with the chalices and Muriel Somerfield and Chris McCormack as servers.

Sunday is Remembrance Sunday and there will be a shortened eucharist service with an Act of Remembrance, in order to allow time for those who wish to get to Breage for the Parade and Service of Remembrance.

On November 11 at 11am there will be an Act of Remembrance at the War Memorial on the top of Tregonning Hill. Please allow time to get up the hill!
