Elsie Balme from Porthleven conducted the Remembrance service on Sunday, for which there was a good gathering at the Memorial.
Wreaths were laid for Breage Parish council by Mr Peter Greenough and by Lieutenant Commander Alan Rogers representing the Commanding Officer, officer and ship’s company RNAS Culdrose. Crosses were laid for those listed on the Memorial.
The Last Post and Reveille were played on trumpet by 15-year-old Andrew Wingham from Releath, who is a member of Helston Town Band and thanks are extended to him for making the occasion that more memorable.
Elsie’s talk regarding wartime actions and special memories impressed and interested everyone and the hymns chosen were all very appropriate to the occasion. The collection for the Earl Haigh Fund amounted to £106.
The service on Sunday, along with holy communion, will be conducted by the Rev Beverly Turner.
