St Michael's Church, Helston (From Falmouth Packet)

St Michael's Church, Helston
1:39pm Tuesday 6th November 2012 in Helston
First Sunday all-age family communion celebrated the feast of All Saints, with readings and music all on that theme.
Canon David Miller led the service and presided at communion, assisted by the Rev Dorothy Noakes. Betty Booker, lay reader, gave a talk about tradition in the services of the church, in which she was helped by most of the members of Junior Church. Betty explained how altars came to be used; about vestments and their different colours; about the various books set on the altar and the special plate and cup used in holy communion. Traditional hymns were played by organist Richard Berry and a group of worship songs were played by Michael Thorn on the keyboard. Rebecca and Rowan led the prayers.
Important notice: As Remembrance Sunday falls on Armistice Day, November 11, parish communion at St Michael’s will begin 30 minutes later than usual, at 10am.
