METHODIST CHURCH: The guest preacher on Sunday morning was the Rev Beverly Turner who took the theme “The Body of Christ” and all the different tasks that are carried out within the church. Thanks were offered to Beverly for her thoughtful preparation for the all-age worship. Junior Church attendance prizes for the past year have been awarded to Catherine and Elizabeth King, Kathryn Willoughby, Matthew Bird, Morwenna Higgs, Kayleigh and Tristan Young, Kimberleigh and Ashley Yould, and Ella and Lewis Henwood. The children will be lighting the Advent candles each Sunday. The Junior Church invites everyone to come along to their Carol Service at 11am on December 15, “Emmanuel – God is with us”. All children welcome to join in on the day.

The preacher on Sunday at 11am is Brenda Richards. Also at 11am Junior Church meet in the Sunday schoolroom.

Thank you to everyone who contributed towards the Shoe Box appeal this year, 53 boxes from LUMC and the village have been sent off this year. Boxes for the girls totalled 29 and 24 for the boys. Sincere thanks to Melville for delivering the boxes to Helston.

VILLAGE HALL: On Saturday there will be the Winter Dinner and Dance taking place at 7pm and includes a four course meal. There will be live music from "The Crumblies". Bring along your own wine or beer or there will be a selection to purchase on the evening. The evening costs £10 per ticket. CHRISTMAS QUIZ: The quiz in aid of the Leedstown lights takes place in Leedstown chapel Sunday schoolroom on Monday, December 9. Doors will be open at 7pm and the quiz starts at 7.30pm. The cost is £1.50 per person and there will be a raffle and refreshments. Ruben will be playing carols for a sing song during the evening, to add to the festive atmosphere.

CHRISTMAS LIGHTS SWITCH-ON: This year the lights will be switched on by Abby Hatherley. Abby was the winner of Leedstown school's competition to design the Christmas lights poster. The village switch-on will be held at the Duke of Leeds pub, in the square, on Friday, December 6 after Father Christmas leads the children from the village hall at 6.45pm. Abby will pull the switch at 7pm and everyone is invited to come along and join the festive fun. Breage Silver band and the schoolchildren will lead the carol singing. Children are invited to go back to the hall later to talk to Santa and receive a present from him.
