WOMEN’S INSTITUTE: Members and friends had an enjoyable party in the chapel schoolroom, which was attended by a large group of Leedstown school pupils with their teachers. The children sang some songs from their forthcoming Christmas play, which were very entertaining. These included “Bonjour! Allo!”, “One Step Closer” and “Christmas Gold”. The songs, although they weren’t traditional Christmas carols, contained the message of trying to help others who are less fortunate than ourselves, and in that way finding “ Christmas gold”. Betty Pollard also read a Christmas story based on fact about finding lost relations in America. Refreshments and decorations were provided by members and it was a most enjoyable afternoon. Thanks to the school and the teachers for their participation.
