Ruby Brown led the morning worship, and the three candles for Advent were lit by the children.

She gave a very interesting sermon on Women and their role in past centuries, then particularly remembering Mary who was a focal figure in the Nativity, although not usually spoken about so much as the Shepherds and the Kings. Margaret Bilkey played the organ.

In the afternoon there was a Christingle service enjoyed by children of all ages.

On Friday evening despite the weather, a nearly-full church congregation enjoyed a candlelight Carol Service led by the Rev Danny Reed. Apart from the lovely Christmas hymns, he read in turn meditations from Mary, Joseph, the shepherds and the innkeeper, all written in modern language. Nigel Dower played the organ.

Do come along to see the Angel Experience, which is open free of charge until January 6. Refreshments are available. It is well worth a visit, and we should be delighted to welcome you.

As usual the big Christmas tree has been erected, and people are invited to write a message in memory of a lost loved one to hang on the tree in aid of the Mermaid Centre.
