Canon David Miller presided at parish communion on the third Sunday of Epiphany, assisted by Betty Booker, lay reader, with Heather Thorn reading the lesson and Michael Thorn leading the prayers.

The Rev Dorothy Noakes preached about how Epiphany Bible readings show the nature of the gift God gave at Christmas, first in the child worshipped by the Magi who then becomes the man Jesus, embarking on his ministry by calling the disciples. Jesus continues to call all sorts of people, who respond despite knowing the hazards of discipleship.

On Sunday at 10am the Bishop of Truro will preside at a service of confirmation and holy communion, which will unite the congregations of St Michael’s and Wendron Church. As it is also the feast called Candlemass, people attending are invited to bring a candle to receive the Bishop’s blessing.
