WOMEN’S INSTITUTE: Members held an AGM in February in the midst of the bad weather so numbers were small. However, Liz Anderson, County Adviser, steered through the meeting with Sheila Goldsworthy, president, giving a report on the busy activities of the last year. Betty Pollard, treasurer, also gave a most comprehensive and clear account of the satisfactory finances. Other members gave brief reports on their work for the year, which had been a very busy one.

Officers elected were president, Sheila Goldsworthy; treasurer, Betty Pollard; vice presidents Mary Giles and Jackie Nathan. Secretarial work is being covered by the president and treasurer. It was agreed to carry on despite small numbers in the hope that new members can be found. It is an important year as it is Leedstown WI’s 95th birthday in June, and is one of the oldest in Cornwall.

The next meeting, an Open Meeting in Leedstown Sunday School, will be at 2.15 pm on Tuesday, March 11. There will be a talk given by Paul Phillips, formerly from Leedstown, who will speak on “The Siege of Skewes, 1734.” This should be a fascinating an enjoyable afternoon and all are welcome. Cost of entry is £3.50 for non-members.
