METHODIST CHURCH: The guest preacher for all-age worship on Sunday was Sarah Fuller from Breaney Chapel who talked about God providing for his children and the things that mums do for their children. The organist was Gerald, with Janet as steward.

Bunches of flowers were kindly donated by Winchester Growers, and thanks are given to Mary and Kathryn for preparing them and the Sunday school children who presented them to the congregation to celebrate Mothering Sunday. Next week the Junior Church will be having an art and craft “Selfie Sunday” with pictures of the Sunday school teachers and children, make up optional, and their interests and hobbies, based on Psalm 139 “God Knows Me”.

On Palm Sunday and Easter Day everyone is invited to be a secret agent to find out about Jesus, continuing with all-age worship on April 27. Palm branches have already been delivered. Please join the Sunday school on any of these Sundays for some reflection on Easter.

Deacon Geoff Tamblin will be taking the holy communion service on Sunday at 11am.

Hands Together prayer hour is not taking place on Friday, April 4 or on April 11. The group will next meet on Friday, April 18 at 1pm.

The excellent soup and dessert lunch, along with the 2ps around the chapel and the "Estimate How Much in the Jar" competition, raised £215 for chapel funds. Thanks are sent for all the help and support given.

The value of the 2ps in the jar was £22.20 and the winner, with an estimate of £22.22 was Ken Wakely.

PRIMARY SCHOOL: The school have been successful in achieving a lottery funded grant and this is being spent on new play equipment for the children. It is hoped that the children are able to be on the field more often as the weather improves. At the Coose Trannack Cross Country event, Harvey came second in his race where there were 106 runners and Leon came fourth. Congratulations are sent from all at Leedstown School to the boys for their success.

VILLAGE HALL: The Blues and Greys are holding their next Country and Western evening on Saturday. The evening begins at 8pm and Jim Warton is performing. Please bring your own drinks and nibbles.

The AGM is to be held on Monday at 7.30pm and anyone wishing to attend would be most welcome. It is hoped to begin a gentle Pilates class on Wednesdays between 9.30-10.30am. Please call 07966 675 596 to show your interest and find out more details.

WOMEN’S INSTITUTE: The Open Meeting in Leedstown Sunday schoolroom on Tuesday, March 11 was a talk given by Paul Phillips, formerly from Leedstown, who spoke eloquently and dramatically on "The Siege of Skewes, 1734." He told a true story of family rivalry, ending in murder at Skewes near Nancegollan. This was a fascinating and enjoyable afternoon and several visitors were made welcome. It was a pity that more did not attend what was a memorable occasion.

The next meeting will be an Open Meeting on Tuesday and the subject will be the St Petroc's Society, a local charity that helps Cornwall's homeless with advice, accommodation and food. It is much needed in these stringent times with unemployment high especially among the young. The speaker will be Corinna Langford and it will start about 7.30pm in the Leedstown United Sunday School, after WI business. Cost is £3.50 for visitors and all are welcome.
