Last weekend has seen a fascinating Circuit Exhibition in the church, when each of the 22 chapels in the Circuit displayed, with lots of photographs and other items, what they do during the year – services, coffee mornings, lunches, concerts, clubs, shoe boxes, funding raising, etc.

There were also some organ recitals, soloists and demonstrations of the Open the Book project during the day. Over 300 people attended the exhibition on Saturday, and it was left in place for the services on Sunday.

The Rev Danny Reed led the morning worship with holy communion, and read from St Luke’s Gospel the story of the meeting with Jesus on the road to Emmaus, on which he based his sermon. Margaret Bilkey played the organ.

At 4pm the church was almost full for a Circuit United Service, led by Sid Harris, the Circuit Youth Worker, supported by Mr Reed and the Circuit Leadership Team. A band made up of instrumentalists from around the Circuit accompanied the hymns; there was an short puppet show, with a song to the tune of YMCA, and the congregation were invited to break into groups to consider the Bible reading, either by art, chatting, listening, handicraft or in silence.

Tea and cake was served after the service.
