First Sunday all-age family communion on the Sunday after Ascension Day was celebrated by the Rev Dorothy Noakes, who also gave the address.
The Rev Dorothy spoke about long-standing friendships and how hard it is if and when friends are parted. This was just the situation experienced by the disciples when, 40 days after the resurrection, Jesus took his leave of them, but not before promising the gift of the Holy Spirit. Canon David Miller, the Rev Jane Bradbury and Betty Booker, lay reader, assisted at the service. Michael and Heather Thorn, keyboard and flute, accompanied two worship songs, with hymns and voluntaries played by Richard Berry, organist.
