Parish communion was blessed with a visit from Ian Harvey, St Michael’s Mission Partner in Africa for the past several years, who came to talk about the work of a sanctuary called Kimbilio, which helps some of Congo’s 250,000 street children.
A short film brought home the plight of children before their rescue from streets where life knows every kind of degradation. Ian then explained plans to expand and develop facilities, so that many more boys and girls may be helped, supported by churches and charities.
Canon David Miller presided at communion, assisted by the Rev Dorothy Noakes and Betty Booker, lay reader. Michael Thorn led the prayers and Richard Berry was the organist.
There will be all-age family communion at 9.30am on Sunday, at which Sunday School prizes will be distributed.
