All-age family communion included Junior Church prize-giving, as well as celebrating Sea Sunday.
Canon David Miller presented books to Catherine, Rowan, Katie, Imogen, Chloe, Christopher and Harry, all receiving warm applause from the congregation.
Canon David also gave the sermon, speaking of the abandoned seafarers in British and foreign ports whose only source of help often is the Mission to Seafarers. Many other people feel abandoned, though never by God or where the church is vibrant, caring and welcoming as in Helston.
The Rev Dorothy Noakes presided at communion, assisted by Betty Booker, lay reader, with Diane Barlow reading the lesson and Rebecca Greenough leading the prayers. Hymns and songs related to the sea were accompanied by Richard Berry, organist, Michael and Heather Thorn keyboard and flute and Ken Murphy, guitar.
