METHODIST CHURCH: Tania Bird, Action for Children secretary for Leedstown, thanks everyone who contributed in any way to the church’s annual event to support the work of the charity within Cornwall.

With local preacher, Ruby Brown, she and other musicians celebrated Music in Worship, and how we tend to remember song words more than the written word. Those taking part were Kathryn (piano), Matthew (guitar), and Tiernan (drums). Soloist Graham Woodcock sang “My Forever Friend”, and Gerald Verran played the last hymn on the organ with the Junior Church occupying the choir seats. He was also asked to play “God’s Choir” to conclude the morning. Two recent Action for Children campaigns were mentioned, introducing updated legislation regarding child neglect and emotional abuse.

Matthew and Ashley were presented with their birthday cards. The musicians will be back on August 24, when the Junior Church once again will lead all-age worship with something different for the Bank Holiday weekend. The Junior Church will visit Little Trefewha Home on August 3, and contribute some displays for the World War 1 reflections the next day. The children's Tea Treat to Flambards is scheduled for August 21.

On Sunday the Rev Phillip Williams will be taking holy communion service at 11am in Leedstown Chapel. Junior church also meet in the Sunday schoolroom at 11am. The lovely flowers at this service will be arranged by Carol Tresize. The congregation are invited to a Section United service at St Hilary Parish Church at 6pm, followed by a pasty supper Events this week: Thursday, 2pm, Yoga Class, Sunday schoolroom. Friday, 1pm, The Hands Together Prayer Hour group, Sunday schoolroom.

Many thanks to everyone who assisted with and supported the Soup and Sweet lunch held last Saturday. Another time full of good food and good fellowship was had and the proceeds are for Church Funds.

VILLAGE HALL: Cash bingo will be held on Friday - Everyone is welcome and it's "Eyes Down" at 7.30pm.

The Christmas lights committee will be holding a coffee morning, on Saturday August 2, between 10am and 12.30pm. There will be a display by Jo Long's young Zumba group and music by Harvey. So come along for tea or coffee, cake and a chat. There will also be a raffle and stalls to enjoy.

CREAM TEAS: Cornwall Hospice care invite everyone to come along and support this good cause by attending an afternoon of cream teas on Sunday, with a raffle and stalls. The event begins at 2pm and is being held at the home of Clifford and Pauline Thomas, 2 Lower Bolytho Barns, Blackrock TR 14 9NU.
