METHODIST CHURCH: The Junior Church received a warm welcome at Little Trefewha Home, Praze an Beeble, on Sunday morning.

Many of the residents joined in with the singing. The children completed their activities about Joshua, and Rosemary sang Joshua fought the battle of Jericho. The readers were Kathryn and Kayleigh.

The residents were interested to see the large poppies, Airfix models and horse brass that the Junior Church were contributing to the WW1 displays in Leedstown on the following day.

On Sunday the children are being asked to dress up as a character from the New Testament, or bring an object as a clue, and friends have to guess the Bible story.

The Junior Church will not be meeting on August 17 and 31. Dates will be displayed on the notice board outside as a reminder.

The Messy Church helpers ask the congregation to start putting aside at home, kitchen roll tubes and cereal boxes for the craft activities during September. Messy Church comes to Leedstown on September 28 with two hours of crafts, games, music and light refreshments. It is hoped to hold this event four times a year (if not more frequently, and not necessarily on a Sunday morning) as outreach to the young people and a chance to get together and have fun. All ages are welcome.

On Friday at 1pm the Hands Together Prayer Hour group meet in the Sunday schoolroom.

On Sunday at 11am Mr D Bassett will take the service at Leedstown Chapel and Fairtrade tea and coffee will be served before the morning service from 10.15am in the schoolroom. The lovely flowers will be the gift of Mrs P Henwood.

DUKE OF LEEDS PUB: The Duke of Leeds is now being run by Donna and Anthony who are now serving food again daily with their chef Adam. A pool tournament is being held from 7pm on Monday. Entry is £5 with three games in each round and it will be played to the old rules - everyone welcome.
