The Rev Dorothy Noakes presided at Parish Communion, assisted by Mrs Betty Booker, lay Reader. Canon David Miller preached the sermon, which was concerned with reconciliation with God and between people, a process far harder to achieve than is thought and often fraught with danger. Canon David had been inspired by a Nigerian who, in that divided society, had managed to get people from Christian, Muslim and other religious backgrounds to talk to one another. Reconciliation involves forgiveness, a willingness to listen and perseverance in the pursuit of justice. Elizabeth Goodfellow read the lesson, the organist was Richard Berry and Chris Bradbury directed the choir in the anthem “Like the murmur of the dove's song”.
