COFFEE MORNING: A coffee morning was held recently at An Gernyk, Leedstown, the home of Ann Trevenen Jenkin, in aid of Helston Museum, one of the best small museums in Cornwall. Ann's family were connected with Helston for several generations through the Trevenens and the Grylls families and others, and there was an exhibition of local memorabilia, including sketchbooks from the early 1800s and books of contributors to both the Humphry Millet Grylls arch and to a piece of plate given to him for helping to save Wheal Vor in the 19th century, which would have put miners out of work. This was a very successful and friendly occasion, with £200 being raised for museum funds. This museum is now run by a group of trustees, including Dr Loveday Jenkin CC from our area, and not funded wholly by Cornwall Council as it used to be. Thanks to all who came, helped and supported this, both from Leedstown, Helston and wider afield.
