After an introduction by Canon David Miller, the Rev Jane Bradbury presided at parish communion assisted by Betty Booker, lay reader.

The epistle reading from Philippians chapter 4 v 1-9, was by Rebecca Greenough and Canon Miller read from Matthew’s gospel chapter 22 v 1-14, the parable of the wedding feast. The Rev Jane’s sermon was based on this parable. She explained how God is the ‘king’ in the parable and he invites all people to the ‘feast’. In the parable some were regarded as the ‘wrong’ sort of people but they turned up wearing the right clothes. Only one man was not wearing a wedding garment and he was excluded.

The Rev Jane said that God’s love is unconditional, he reaches everyone where they are, even those on the fringes of society, but he does want them to change, to put on the ‘right clothes’. We need to work out where we are in the sight of God and although he prompts us to put on the ‘right’ clothes he doesn’t micro-manage us, we have to choose to wear them.

The prayers of intercession were led by Michael Thorn. Coffee was served after the service with proceeds going to the Church Mission partner in the Congo working with street children at the Kimbilio Centre.

The Church Christmas Fayre will be held on November 22 and the members of the congregation are encouraged to provide items for the Christmas stall, bottles for the bottle tombola and cake makers are also urged to get busy!

The Facebook pages for both St Michaels and St Wendrona Churches are now live and will be updated with photos and news. On Saturday the church choir enjoyed their time at the Diocesan Choir Festival at Truro Cathedral and sang at evensong.
