At the service at 11am on Sunday, January 18, the congregation of Crowan Parish church joined Leedstown Methodist Chapel for a Unity Sunday joint service.

It is hoped that this will become a yearly opportunity to meet together with each church taking it in turns to host. The preacher was the Rev Philip Williams and the Rev Dom Whitting gave a reading.

Next Sunday, January 25, at 11am, the service at Leedstown will be taken by Mr Colin Combellack. The Junior Church is supporting the Leprosy Mission's “Helping Hands” Appeal, and are making a display of Praying Hands and will be serving Fairtrade drinks from 10am. Please bring along any used stamps you have collected for resale by the Mission.

Every Tuesday between 10am and noon, why not come along to Coffee Stop, in the Sunday schoolroom and enjoy this informal, free get together where you can also purchase or borrow pre-owned books? Everyone is welcome.

The yoga class meets in the Sunday School room at 2pm today, Thursday, January 22 - come along, everyone welcome to come along.

LEEDSTOWN FILM CLUB The committee have been successful in obtaining a grant from BBC Radio Cornwall. Daphne Skinnard came to the village hall on Tuesday, January 20, to present a cheque for £1,420, so the village hall can purchase a film screen and run a film club for a year. The committee are all delighted and hopefully it will be a great success.

WINTER WARMER AT THE VILLAGE HALL The village hall are holding a Winter Warmer Dinner and Dance, on Saturday, January 31 from 7.30pm. Tickets, in advance, for what will be a popular evening, are available now at Leedstown Post Office or phone 01736 850118.

Music is by The Crumblies, the popular local band that plays 50, 60s and 70s music and have appeared at the village hall with great success in the past.

Tickets cost £10 and includes a three course meal of Yorkshire pudding filled with sausages, veg and gravy, a choice of sweets and tea or coffee and chocolates to finish. Please bring along your own beer, wine and soft drinks.
