The Rev Jane Bradbury both presided and preached at parish communion, assisted by the Rev Dorothy Noakes and Betty Booker, lay reader.
The Rev Jane's sermon, following a scripture reading about the prophet Samuel, was about seeing things differently and the value of silence, both of which helped Samuel to become open to the presence of God and may, if we try, do the same for us.
John Eddy read both Old and New Testament lessons and Gareth Howard led the prayers. During Communion, the choir sang an anthem setting of St Richard of Chichester's famous prayer directed by Chris Bradbury and accompanied by Richard Berry, organist.
This is the week of prayer for Christian unity, with services at 12.45pm on Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday at various centres, all followed by a soup lunch.
