The family service on Sunday included the baptism of Eli Jasper Kendall. Friends and relatives, with many children, joined parents Marina and Ryan, Godparents Nicky Martyn, Pete Bulley, Claire and Rory Stevenson and the regular congregation to swell the numbers to over 70 to celebrate Eli joining the church. His proud grandmother, Alison Stevenson, owns and runs Parc Vro Residential Home in Mawgan.

The service was taken by the Rector, the Rev Lesley Walker. The sermon reflected on how it takes time and patience to achieve things and gave the example that nobody would expect a child to pick up a football and play for England immediately. Similarly a child cannot become an established Christian immediately after baptism. It is a beginning, and Eli will need everyone’s help to know what is important and practice to reach the goal of a faith. The lessons were read by Wendy Bailey and the Rev Heather Aston, who also took the intercessions.

The service on Sunday at 9.30am will be a harvest eucharist celebrated by the Rector, with presentation of gifts.

On Monday at 7pm there will be a harvest supper and auction of harvest produce in the Vyvyan Coach House (next to the church). We are supporting the local FoodBank as well as church funds, so gifts of non-perishable items will be most welcome as well as fruit and vegetables. Please bring a plate of food for a bring-and-share supper.
