The harvest festival service on Sunday was taken by the Rector, the Rev Lesley Walker. The church was beautifully decorated with flowers, fresh fruit and vegetables for auction and non-perishable foodstuffs for donation to Foodbank in Helston.
In her sermon the Rector said that whilst celebrating the harvest and God’s generosity we cannot take this for granted. Whilst we are aware of starvation in the world, particularly in Africa, we are also vulnerable in this country as Foodbank shows the reality of people in our own community who struggle. Lessons were read by Mary Wood and the Rev Heather Aston.
Whilst all non-perishable gifts will be donated to Foodbank the perishable goods were auctioned on Monday, by auctioneer Christopher Roberts, after the harvest supper, to raise money for the church. The service on Sunday will be morning prayer at 11.15am taken by the Rev Heather Aston.
