Our monthly meeting took place on November 21. Our business for the evening started with our president telling us we had filled 47 shoe boxes for Operation Christmas Child which is a tremendous achievement.

Details of our Christmas party were discussed and the date and place was set for our post Christmas lunch. The evening was then handed over to our speakers Clare Girling and Becky Duncan from the Helston Physiotherapy Practice. They gave us an interesting insight into their work with their main aim being to keep people well, fit and healthy and they gave us some practical advice on how to maintain our core stability. The members had lots of questions to put to the speakers.

We stopped for a welcome cup of tea served by Irene Kimbeley and Eileen Warbis and the results of our competitions this month which were, ‘A limerick on how to keep fit’ won by Marcia Williams, second was Pam Kaley and third Tricia Retallack. The flower competition was won by Zoe Kevern, second was Dorothy Kemp and third Rita Kelly and Pat Honeywood.

Our next meeting will be on January 9 at 7.30pm in the Methodist hall St Keverne. The speaker will be Howard Curnow on Climate Change, What can we do in Cornwall? And the competition will be a winter photograph.

New members will be given a warm welcome and for further information call Rita Kelly 01326 280498.
