The themed family service for April took place on Sunday, taken by churchwarden Lindsay Hockley.

The theme was resurrection and new life, starting with each member of the congregation, as they entered the church, being asked to add seeds to a hollow cross and say a prayer.

Mary Wood read from Ezekiel the story of the bones becoming living breathing beings, illustrated by Mandy Basher with paper skeletons and figures. This was followed by the gospel song Dem bones, Dem bones. Wendy Bailey read the story of the raising of Lazarus finishing with Christ’s promise of life after death for those that believe in Him.

Prayers were led by Churchwarden Pauline Arnold. The congregation left with crosses printed with the resurrection promise and gladioli bulbs to bring to life in their gardens.

The service on Sunday will be a Eucharist at 9.30am celebrated by the Rector, the Rev Lesley Walker who will also take the holy communion service for Holy Week at 7.30pm on Wednesday, April 16.
