President Dot Rogers welcomed members and also ladies from St Keverne WI who joined us for the evening.

Business matters were dealt with and preparations for Nancegollan Show were discussed. Avril Woolcock, WI County Advisor, then introduced this year’s resolution – that an increase in organ donation for transplant should be encouraged. Three people die every day while waiting for a donated organ, and although 37% of the population have signed up for organ donation, families sometimes oppose these wishes when a loved one dies. The south-west has the highest number signed up, but surprisingly Croatia is the leading country in Europe for organ donation. There was some discussion as to whether it was only younger people’s organs that were worth donating and then the vote was carried unanimously.

After a delicious supper provided by the members, the evening finished with entertainment by the Cadgwith Singers, who sang some rousing sea shanties and ended with Trelawney.

The flower of the month was won by Dot Spragg and the competition by Margaret Evans who managed to make 135 four letter words from the word Resolution. We are always pleased to welcome visitors and prospective new members to our meetings.
