The May meeting was presided over by vice president June Youl, who started our meeting by welcoming speaker Anne Routledge who talked to us about 'Driving safer for longer.'

This is an initiative between various participants in Devon and Cornwall. It was an extremely informative talk by Anne using power point and video illustrations of various scenarios. Having been asked to fill in a questionnaire we were given lots of hints and tips on driving which was particularly useful and included knowing when to stop driving and other ideas for transport. For a small fee Anne mentioned that you can have a one hour review of your driving in your own car with a confidential feedback.

A vote of thanks to Anne was given by Pearl Woodyer and we then stopped for a welcome cup of tea.

The second part of the evening followed with our business. Our birthday lunch is on May 31 at the Duchy Hotel in Falmouth, meeting at the Band room at 11.30am and our next 'ladies who lunch' date will be on June 10 at Trevena Cross.

We are still collecting milk bottle caps as Annette Buchanen has managed to source another user for them.

Winners of our competitions were Flower of the month: 1, Pearl Woodyer; 2, Marcia Williams/Rita Kelly; 3, Zoe Kevern. The limerick: 1, Rita Kelly; 2, Marcia Williams; 3, Trisha Retallack.

Our next meeting is on June 19 in St Keverne Methodist Hall at 7.30pm when our speaker will be Sarah Snell talking about The Merlin M S Centre and the competition is 'A positive thought for the day.'
