The family service on Sunday was taken by the Rev Heather Aston. She reflected how the Old Testament reading and the psalm showed an unpretentious and supportive God and the reading from Matthew showed Jesus offering rest and reprieve from our mental burdens.
Members of the congregation, including Alex Rand aged eight, read out examples of our feelings of worry, fear and guilt, which were then laid on the altar steps to simulate giving our burdens to God. Alex then distributed a reminder card to everyone showing the laying down of burdens under the cross. The lessons were read by Lindsay Hockley and the Rev Aston.
The service at the church on Sunday will be a eucharist at 9.30am celebrated by the Rev Heather Aston.
On Saturday there will be a coffee morning from 10.30am to noon at the Vyvyan Coach House (outside the church). There will be homemade cakes for sale and a raffle.
