The eucharist service on Sunday was celebrated by the Rector, the Rev Lesley Walker.

In her sermon, against a background of the continued tension in the Middle East, she referred to the Jewish, Moslem and Christian religions being grounded in the same Old Testament text and worshipping the same God. Jesus featured as a prophet in the non-Christian faiths. Whilst believing in His death and resurrection requires a different belief and faith, we can sow the seeds of the gradual process to this faith by encouraging people to engage with the stories of His life and teaching. The common aim must be peace and reconciliation to a divided and torn world. The lessons were read by Wendy Bailey and the Rector.

There will be no service on Sunday as Anglican congregations in the benefice will be joining the Anniversary Service at Meneage Methodist Church at 11am. The service on Sunday, September 14 will be a eucharist celebrated by the Rector, the Rev Lesley Walker.

The exhibition of World War I local information and memorabilia is open daily during daylight hours until November.

There will be a coffee morning at the Vyvyan Coach House (outside Mawgan Church) on Saturday, September 13 from 10.30am to noon with homemade cakes for sale.
