The Harvest Festival service at St Mawgan in Meneage Parish Church on Sunday was taken by the churchwardens.

The church was beautifully decorated with flowers, fresh fruit and vegetables some of which nine-year-old Alex Rand brought to the altar for blessing as symbols of the harvest. Lindsay Hockley led the service and talked about our rural farming community and gave some facts about the effects of flood and famine worldwide and how we benefit from poorer countries food production. Lessons were read by Mary Wood and prayers were said by Pauline Arnold, Wendy Bailey and Mandy Basher. The organ was played by Andrew Woods.

On Monday evening, after a delicious Harvest Supper, all produce was auctioned, by auctioneer Julian Rand, to raise money for Save the Children. The service on Sunday will be a eucharist at 9.30am taken by the Rev Heather Aston.
