The meeting on Wednesday, November 5 began with the usual business information. The annual council meeting minutes and the County News were discussed, as well as plans for the New Year meal in January and the forthcoming group meeting on November 11 with St Keverne WI.
The speakers this month were Bert Biscoe, Pol Hodge and Dew Vardh – two poets who entertained us with poetry, songs and dialect in Cornish and English on various topics including shopping in Truro, a Cornish gathering in the USA, growing up in the 60s, choughs and ‘dreckly’. Both the competition and the flower of the month were won by Dot Spragg. After a delicious supper served by Lynne Brown and Isobel Chappell, the evening was rounded off with a chorus of Trelawney.
Gunwalloe WI welcomes new members and further information is available from the secretary Dot Spragg on 01326 221127 or email the.spraggs@btinternet.com The next meeting will be held on December 3 when our entertainment will be Mana de Voices.
