Mawgan Parish Church
8:24am Tuesday 31st July 2012 in Lizard Life
The eucharist service on Sunday was celebrated by the Rev Len Jepp.
His sermon, taking the subject from the readings about the provision of much from little, talked of the constant need in the modern world for more of everything and the dependence on earthly leaders. God in Christ warns us against power and possessions and we should let God direct our resources and there will always be enough of everything. The lessons were read by Wendy Bailey and Mr Jepp and organist was Andrew Woods.
Sunday’s service will be morning prayer at 11.15am taken by Mr Jepp.
MAWGAN CHURCH SUMMER FETE: The excitement is building for this event on Saturday, August 11 outside the church (or inside if it is wet). To be opened at 2pm by Sandra Woodgate (nee Keen) who represented Great Britain in the 1964 Tokyo Olympics, there will be lots to do and buy including old favourites like the marble game, tombola and the opportunity to try your hand at bell ringing. But this year for the first time there will also be competitions and the entry forms are now available in Mawgan Shop. There will be the Cake Bake, Vase of Flowers, Photography and children are asked to bring a model, they have made themselves from any material, of a building in Mawgan to add to “Miniature Mawgan”.
The grand finale will include a Teddy Parachute Jump from the church tower. There are posters and fliers in Mawgan from now until the fete and everyone is looking forward to a great afternoon. Remember, rain will not stop this event which will just move into the church if necessary.
