BALWEST METHODIST CHURCH: The congregation were pleased to welcome Deacon Geoff Tamblin as the preacher at their Harvest Thanksgiving service on Sunday. The church was beautifully decorated and thanks to all who helped and contributed with gifts. Accompanist was Jill Warden.

Members and friends of the church prepared and served a most delightful lunch in the schoolroom after the service.

During One World Week starting on Sunday, October 21, the Tradecraft stall will be available.

ASHTON CHURCH: The celebrant at the monthly Book of Common Prayer service of holy communion on Friday was the parish priest, The Rev Penny Prince. The epistle was read by Bevan Osborne and Vicar Penny read the gospel. Sidesman was Malcolm Hersee.

Evensong on Sunday will be at 6pm.

On Thursday, October 18, the Feast of St Luke, there will be a service of holy communion at 9.30am.

DOG Show: A fun dog show will be held on Sunday, October 21 in aid of Cornwall Badger Rescue. The show will take place at The Coach and Horses on the A394 at Kenneggy. There will be 22 classes with rosettes for Best in Show, Reserve Best in Show and first to fourth in each class. Judging will start at noon and for further details ring 01736 759239.
