VILLAGE HALL: There was a really spooky atmosphere on Tuesday evening for the annual Halloween Disco. The hall beautifully decorated for the occasion was well supported by children and parents.

Prizes for the best pumpkin: 1, Harriet; 2, Lacey. The Fancy Dress again gave the Judges, Kay and Sue a very difficult task as they were all deserving of a prize, however, in the six years and under class Angel came first, 7–12 was Chase and the adults winner was Carol Allen.

Thank you to Philip Greet who organised the evening and supplied the music.

Bingo last week was quite well attended and the next cash bingo evening will be on November 22, 7.30pm.

The children’s Christmas Party is on Sunday, December 2 from 3.30pm–5.30pm followed by the Christmas Lights switch on and the Christmas Draw. Children’s names please to Brenda 01326240889

BELL/TOWER PROJECT: The hall was busy again on Saturday with the Annual Holly Fair taking place. There was a delightful array of Christmas gifts, preserves, plants, etc for the public to buy.

Hot homemade soup by Jenny Smith and Sue Garner was most welcome to warm the people as they came in from the cold. Jenny and Sue together with Marian Jennings and Brenda Lawrance also made a delicious array of homemade cakes.

Laurence Garner was kept busy with the raffle. Priscilla Oates expressed thanks to all the stall holders who support the fair each year and to everyone who attended and brought the goods on offer. A profit of £216 was made towards the bell/tower fund.

METHODIST CHURCH: The family service on Sunday was led by Sylvia Richards of St Martin who had as her theme Jesus, Light of the World. The offering was collected by Harriet and Lacey with Sybil Benney accompanist.

There is no service on Sunday at the chapel - we are joining our friends at the church at 9.15am for the Remembrance Day Service.

The Chapel Community Lunch this year will take place on Sunday, December 16 in the village hall following the Carol Service. If you wish to book a place please ring Brenda on 01326240889.

WOMEN’S INSTITUTE: Icing Christmas cakes members were getting in the festive mood on Thursday when they were given a demonstration by Gill Keeble from Praze-an-Beeble WI who showed them three different ways to ice their cakes this Christmas.

Mrs Keeble was thanked by Lynda Lee.

The competition winners were three iced fairy cakes – Brenda Lawrance Flower of the Month: Joint 1, Sue Garner/Brenda; 2, Jenny Smith; 3, Jenny Andersen Members were reminded by the President, Jenny Smith of the Christmas Dinner at Mullion Golf Club on December 14 and next month’s meeting also happens to be our WI’s 56th birthday on December 6. New members always welcome.
