ST CORENTYN’S CHURCH: The congregation together with members of Cury Methodist Church gathered on Trinity Sunday morning to the peal of the restored bells for a special service of celebration for the 60th Anniversary of Father John Palmer’s ordination and also to welcome Bishop Roy Screech who conducted the service and congratulated Fr John on his long and devoted service.

Readings were by Jill Bayliss, Margaret Bostock and Priscilla Oates; intercessory prayers were said by Priscilla; the offering was taken by Diane Martin and organist was Rachel Cook. After the service there was a celebratory cake to share.

On Thursday at 6pm the Corpus Christi Service will be led by Fr John.

METHODIST CHURCH: On Sunday at 11am the family service will be led by Marian Jennings. All welcome to attend.

VILLAGE HALL: The annual Bank Holiday barbecue on Sunday evening was another success. Entertainment was provided by The Cornish Wurzells supported by Nightchasers Disco. Thank you to everyone from the committee who were kept busy with the barbecue, raffle and bar. On Friday at 7.30pm there is a fundraising talk by Jessica Hirons called Our Cornish Seals and their Conservation - free entry but donations for the Grey Seal Conservation appreciated - refreshments, licensed bar and raffle.

You are invited to attend the Kernow Microscopical Society Laboratory Session on Saturday, June 8, 2.30pm-5pm to discover what they found earlier in the water at Poldhu Cove. Children are welcome but must be accompanied by an adult.

Our next Cash Prize Bingo will be on Thursday, June 27 at 7.30pm.

WOMEN’S INSTITUTE: The next meeting will be held on Thursday, June 6 at 7.15pm. The speaker will be Chris Blount, former presenter at BBC Radio Cornwall. New members always welcome.
