METHODIST CHURCH: The Rev David Pountain led the morning service on Sunday. The offering was taken up by Christopher Trounson and accompanist was Sybil Benney. Flowers were provided by Brenda Lawrance. On Sunday the appointed preacher is Mr P Galassini.

Our Cream Tea event in aid of St Julia’s Hospice Care is on Thursday, July 11, 2pm–5pm. Donations of items for the numbers board, cake and bring-and-buy are welcom.

VILLAGE HALL: Line Dancing continues on Mondays from 7.30pm–9.30pm. The U3A have Line Dancing fortnightly from Wednesday, June 19 from 2pm–4pm.

The monthly Whist Drive will be on June 20 at 7.30p.m. M C Ian James - entry £1, refreshments and raffle. Eyes down at 7.30pm on Thursday, June 27 for Cash Prize Bingo - raffle and licensed bar.

ST CORENTYN’S BELL FUND: John and Mo Russell are holding a Ploughman’s Lunch at 12.45pm on Sunday, June 30 at their home, Penvores Farm, Nantithet, Cury. Tickets for the lunch are £6 each and are available from Mo 01326240547 or Brenda 01326240889. Please book early. After lunch there will be a traditional skittles match to fund the Cury Skittles Champion 2013! There will be bring-and-buy, cakes and biscuits. Contributions welcome for the stalls and raffle.

WOMEN’S INSTITUTE: The Helford River and its Wildlife was the topic of the presentation by Jessica Hirons. Jessica told how the river is a working river with its oyster farms, fishing etc. Activities include educational trips with schools learning to sail and of course the various tourist attractions that abound around the area. Jessica finished her talk by mentioning that she will be trekking around the 300 miles of Cornish Coastline on July 27 for the Conservation of Cornish Grey Seals.

The programme of events being held around the Helford River during the 25th year of Helford Voluntary Marine Conservation ranges from seashore explorations and talks to bird watching walks and cruises. For more information contact Sue Scott 07722323502 or David Thompson 01326 340686.
