METHODIST CHURCH: As there was no morning service on Sunday, members of the congregation joined with the Anglican Church for the Remembrance Day service.

On Sunday at 11am the appointed preacher is Mr H Trezise.

ST CORENTYN’S CHURCH: On Sunday the bells were half muffled for the Remembrance Day service. Paul Cook laid the wreath at the War Memorial and gave the citation.

Following this Priscilla Oates welcomed everyone including members of the Methodist Church who had joined them for the service. Father Shane Griffiths conducted the service and readings were read by Gill Bayliss, Priscilla Oates and Margaret Bostock. The offering was collected by Sally Markham.

WOMEN’S INSTITUTE: A Feline Tail with an Occasional Woof was the title of the talk by retired vet John Head. Lots of laughter, but the occasional moment of sadness when John was telling his stories of the times he and his wife Sue have visited Cyprus, together with other vets, to help the PDSA out there deal with the problem of feral cats and the odd dog, hence the title!

John was thanked by Jeanette Dodd.

Vice president, Frances Johns, reminded members that next month’s meeting will be the Christmas party and to bring a gift for the secret Santa box.

Competition Winner was Brenda Lawrance; Flower of the Month: 1, Marian Jennings; Joint 2, Sue Garner/Jenny Andersen.

After refreshments members discussed the entry for the Fatstock Show at Helston on November 18.

You are welcome to come along to any of our meetings where you will find a warm and friendly welcome each month on the first Thursday at 7.15pm in the village hall.
