Events for members in November began with the Remembrance Day parade in the village with the Monday Club banner and the laying of the wreath by chairman Rosemary Bray.

A talk by Pauline Rowse on aspects of Heritage - personal, community, and the articles we no longer use which bring back memories - produced interesting comments and reminiscences.

The winter fundraising lunch with stalls was a great success with over £500 profit for the club's charity, the Truro branch of the Samaritans, and no food left!

Members began preparing the decorations for their big tree in the annual Christmas tree festival which opens on Lighting Up night – Saturday, December 7 from 5.30pm. This involved an hour of concentration on producing colour themed decorations under the expert guidance of Margaret Evans. Members tackled a complicated design with mixed success and some hilarity.

Eventually a number of "baubles" had been completed, and stored for the tree decorating at the next meeting.

Leader Rosemary Bray thanked Margaret with a small gift for her patience and help. Rosemary thanked everyone for their hard work in raising over £500 at the recent fundraising event, and Janet Jenkins updated the group on her total for the recent race at Lanhydrock for Breast Cancer.

December events include serving soup at the Lighting Up evening, and leading the Big Village Carol Sing around the village on Thursday, December 19, starting at the Methodist Church at 6pm. All are welcome to join the Monday Club on these occasions.
