C OF E PRIMARY SCHOOL: This year it is the 200th birthday of the primary school and to mark this special event the school held their Nativity at Cury village hall on Thursday. There were two performances, a matinee in the afternoon after their lunch which was given and served by members of Cury WI and another performance in the evening. The children performed “It’s a Party!” It clearly was a party as one member of the audience commented.

The children were an absolute credit to their families and school. They sang, acted and danced with great enthusiasm and enjoyment. They recounted the story of the Nativity in a childlike and modern way. The costumes, lights and music combined with the children’s energy and enthusiasm clearly made the whole performance a magical one.

The venue enabled the community to join in the festivities. Parents, grandparents, past pupils and members of Cury WI were to name but a few who came to watch.

Head Teacher, Lisa Newberry, commented on the whole performance as marking the beginning of the Christmas celebrations for her. She praised the school on their family like ethos which was evident in the performances. She could see in the audience faces how much enjoyment the performance brought. She also thanked the teaching team for their continued hard work and dedication to make the performances such a success. A truly magical day!

On Thursday at 11am the children are holding their Christmas Carol Service in Cury Church.
