METHODIST CHURCH: The Rev David Miller led the United Service on Sunday morning. The offering was taken up by Marian Jennings and Ann Gendall, accompanist was Sybil and flowers given by Fran Bettle. On Sunday there is no service as there is a United Service at Mullion when the Rev Philip Williams will be the preacher at 11am. Our next coffee morning at the village hall is on Thursday, March 20, 9–11am.

VILLAGE HALL: The AGM will be held on Thursday at 7.30pm. Members of the public are welcome to attend. If you would like to become a committee member please come along to the meeting. WOMEN’S INSTITUTE: The Life and Times of Richard Trevithick was the title of the talk given by Peter Bicknell to members last week. Peter gave details of the inventor’s flamboyant lifestyle and how his fascination of the many tin mines around Cornwall led him to inventing various steam engines and many other things, but at every stage his ideas were turned down only to be copied maybe later by other famous names. Mr Bicknell was thanked by Brenda Lawrance. President, Jenny Smith, reminded members of the social evening at Helston on April 17 and also of our day out in October to Trelawney Garden Centre.

Social time was organised by Shirley Finch and Brenda and took the form of a quiz where all the answers were names of sweets or chocolate bars. the winning team being Sally Segrues.

Our next coffee morning will be on March 27 at 9am at the village hall. Next month our speaker will be Priscilla Oates “The Church on the Hill”. The competition a poem of the same title of no more than five lines.
