SCHOOL: The Friends of Cury School Association held a quiz in the village hall last Thursday evening with ten teams taking part. The evening was organised by Belinda Bell and the question master was Steve Bell. The winning team: Skewes Mariners (Simon and Sally Sugrue, Jenny Boaden and MIke Aston); 2, The Three Emmets and A Chough (Marian Jennings, Shirley Finch, Jeanette Dodd and Brenda Lawrance); 3, Mama Knows Best (Kathryn and Miriam Jenkin, Esther Bosustow and Dan).

Thanks were given by Belinda to Steve and everyone who took part.

The following morning at school the Friends were busy again with serving breakfasts for The Big Breakfast. Approximately 60 breakfasts were served to family, friends and the children, who all tucked into a hearty breakfast. The food was cooked by Brenda Gunn and served by the Friends and staff. The proceeds from this were towards a outdoor classroom to be erected in the school garden. Thank you to all at the school for a superb breakfast, everyone is looking, forward to the next one!

METHODIST CHURCH: Pastor Bill Reed led the holy communion united service on Sunday morning when Mullion Chapel joined with us. The offering was collected by Christopher and Jose Trounson and David Lugg was the organist. Flowers were provided by Barbara Matthews. On Sunday our family service will be led by Paul Benney at 11am - All welcome.

CURY WOMEN’S INSTITUTE: Members meet this Thursday at 7.15pm in the village hall to discuss the Resolution for our representative to vote on at the Annual Meeting in Leeds on June 7. You are welcome to join us at any of our meetings which take place on the first Thursday of each month (except January) at 7.15pm in the hall.

VILLAGE HALL: The Bank Holiday barbecue is back on Sunday, May 25 with dynamic Duo Gerry & Simon, supported by Nightchasers Disco entertaining from 7pm–midnight. The barbecue runs from 7pm–9pm with licensed bar. Come and support your local hall.

The monthly Whist Drive will be held on Thursday, May 15 at 7.30pm. Coffee mornings continue each Thursday from 9am–11am, alongside the Post Office.
