SNOOKER CLUB: On Friday evening the club concluded its annual prize presentation and raffle, after having to curtail the original event four weeks previous due to a medical emergency involving chairman, Richard Lake. Richard is now home and the club wish him a speedy and successful recovery.

The original evening involved a “Friendly” knockout competition between the thirteen members present and a pasty supper was enjoyed. The eventual winner was Steve Sandow beating Richard Lake in a black ball finish before Richard was taken ill.

Brian Williams presented the prizes on Friday after being thanked by Secretary, Richard Lawrance, for over forty years dedication to the club and playing League Snooker for the period, before deciding to retire as a full time team player at the end of this season.

Highest League Break: Brian Williams 29.

VILLAGE HALL: On Thursday at 7.30pm the Monthly Whist Drive takes place with refreshment and raffle. Coffee morning 9am–11am. Cury Church with the Post Office 9am-1pm.

Our Bank Holiday Barbecue is back on Sunday, May 25 from 7pm–9pm. Entertainment for the evening will be The Dynamic Duo of Gerry & Simon supported by Nightchasers Disco. Entertainment will be from 7pm–Midnight with licensed bar and raffle.

METHODIST CHURCH: Mr Galassini led the morning service on Sunday, his wife, Sue, read the two readings. The offering was taken up by Christopher Trounson and accompanist was Sybil Benney, flowers were given by Josie Trounson.

There will be no service at Chapel for the next two weeks, next week will be a local arrangement and the following Sunday, May 25 we will be at Mullion for a holy communion united service at 11am. Our next Coffee Morning at the village hall is Thursday, May 29. There is a Circuit Exhibition at Helston on Saturday at 10am–4pm.

Circuit Prayer Meeting at Cury on Monday at 7.30pm.

WOMEN’S INSTITUTE: At our next meeting on Thursday, June 5 the speaker will be Sue Hatton – An Embarrassing Illness. Come and join us at 7.15pm for a Friendly evening out. The Coffee Morning is the same day at the Hall from 9am.

CHURCH TOWER FUND: There will be Cream Teas at Brenfrey, Churchtown on Sunday, June 15 from 2pm–5pm to raise funds towards the re-pointing of the Church Tower. Come and join us – stalls and raffle.
