CHURCH TOWER FUND: Cream teas will be served on Sunday from 2pm–5pm at Brenfrey, Cury Churchtown - various stalls and raffle.

WOMEN’S INSTITUTE: The lovely warm welcome to Cury WI begins in the car park and continues into Cury Hall. This is the meeting place to catch up with friends and events over the past month.

The preliminaries were first on the menu and new trips were then discussed. A member passed away a short time ago and we had a moment’s silence. She will be sadly missed. Our speaker this month was Sue Hatton giving us a talk on 'An Embarassing Illness'. It was certainly an enlightening subject giving us all food for thought and prompting lots of questions. Definitely an amazing woman. Telling you more would only spoil it for other organisations wishing to book her.

Another mouth watering display of goodies was served by some of our members. Our ladies are always ready to help and advise us.

This led us on to the members time, which is always good fun. They didn't disappoint with a Walt Disney film quiz when the films were in the form of anagrams. At the end we could kick ourselves when we got the answers. Well done the winners, seven out of ten, it shows we are all young at heart.

The flowers in the flower competition definitely didn't disappoint this month, the winners contribution, a plum coloured Rose, was just too beautiful for words.

Competition entries for Old cure Remedies was incredible. Some we still use today and some would either kill or cure! Cury WI brings out the very best of people, we offer friendship, help, guidance and lots of support and there is lots of laughter, a very strong ingredient. Please come and join us.

Members meet on the first Thursday of every month at Cury Village Hall at 7.15pm. Our next speaker is Christine Britton “Five Decades of Hairdressing.”
