MULLION MONDAY CLUB: Members hosted an evening on evacuees in the Second World war who had stayed in the Lizard area. Michael Downes was one such and he had produced a fascinating DVD of his experiences. Unfortunately he was unable to be present, but sent information and photographs of the places he stayed and his memories of that time when he was a young boy. The chapel schoolroom was packed for the presentation and much discussion took place. Supper was served afterwards and £211 was raised for the Monday Club's charity this year- Truro Samaritans.

MULLION HANDBELL RINGERS: The ringers presented their summer concert at St Mellanus Church. The church owns, stores and insures the bells and this was a thank you from the ringers. Guest soloist Helen Trezise sang four pieces, accompanied by Peter Townsend. Handbell pieces were varied, but there was a general theme of wartime songs and readings to commemorate the outbreak of the First World War. The handbell ringers now have a full double octave of bells, thanks to the generosity of Lizard 2000 who purchased a bell, and to their own fundraising efforts. This enables musical director Val Stephens to arrange more challenging pieces for the group to play. Supper was served after the concert.
