METHODIST CHURCH: The Rev Geoffrey Thorpe led the United Communion service on Sunday, taking as his theme 'Renewing Religion in our Time'. The scriptures were read by Marian Jennings (Cury) and Lilian Watson (Mullion), the offering was collected by Christopher and Jose Trounson. Accompanist was Sybil Benney and the flowers provided by Barbara Matthews.

On Sunday at 11am the monthly family service will be led by the Rev Beverley Turner - All welcome to attend.

Our next coffee morning is on Thursday, August 7 from 9am-11am at the village hall.

ST CORENTYN'S CHURCH: We are holding a book and bric-a-brac stall on Wednesday, August 6 at St Winwalloe Gate, Gunwalloe from 10am. If you can help or have some goods for our stall please contact Priscilla.

The church will be open from 10am-4pm September 11-14. In addition to our usual artists and their work, we would like to collect stories, photographs, etc this year of those of this parish who served in the World Wars and survived. These will be added to our Book of Remembrance. Again contact Priscilla.

VILLAGE HALL: Bank Holiday barbeque, Sunday, August 24 at 7pm. Entertainment Karaoke and Night Chasers Disco - licensed bar, raffle.

Schedules for the village hall show on Saturday, October 4 are now available. Due to the high cost of postage we will not be sending these out this year but they are available from Mullion Post Office, Gweek Post Office, Spar Mawgan, Sweet Pea, Helston, Cury Village Hall and the secretary Jeanette Dodd on 01326 240045.

WOMEN'S INSTITUTE: Our next meeting will be held on Thursday, August 7 at 7.15pm in Cury village hall. The speaker will be Alan Foster on Old Time Music Hall. Competition - Old Time Record/Sheet Music. Come and join us for a friendly evening out. We welcome you to our meetings on the first Thursday of each month (except January). Our next coffee morning is on Thursday, August 14 from 9am.

C OF E SCHOOL: Pupils gave a brilliant performance of Roald Dahl’s, Goldilocks and the Three Bears to their parents and friends last Wednesday. Lisa Newbery Head Teacher thanked the children and all the staff who helped to put it all together and giving us all such a fantastic afternoon. She also thanked Mary Cooper-Brown for accompanying on the piano and Gerry for helping out doing any odd jobs when needed. Lily and Isaac presented Mary and Gerry with a gift each. The day rounded off with a disco and barbecue in the school grounds to end a very successful year. Autumn term starts on Monday, September 8.
