A warm WI welcome was extended to two visitors at the September meeting, one visitor was from Ruan Minor and the other from Falfield in Gloucestershire.

The business was discussed and the president then called on Catherine Barnes to update members on the final draft of her proposed Resolution for 2015 entitled ‘To empower disadvantaged girls through education’. The Resolution will now be sent to County for discussion.

The president read out two thank you cards from members relating to the July garden party and a member also thanked everyone for the beautiful flowers she received for her recent 90th birthday.

Unfortunately the speaker was unable to attend, so at very short notice two committee members arranged a Beetle Drive and Quiz. The Beetle Drive proved to be great fun, but had to be restarted after ten minutes as there was a mix up over the rules and some tables finished all six games before others had completed one! It was great fun and everyone enjoyed themselves. Token prizes were awarded to the winning team Teas were served by Elizabeth and Margaret and members set about the quiz which proved to be quite a brain teaser and was enjoyed by all. The winners were Val, Kath, Christine and Francis, again token prizes were distributed. Flower of the Month competition was won by Val. Competition ‘Something Fishy’ was won by Beryl. After the raffle was drawn the meeting was closed.

The next meeting will be Friday, October 10 at 2.15 in the WI Hall when Mina Dresser will be talking about Elizabeth of Austria (19th Century Princess Diana). All welcome.
