VILLAGE HALL: The Village Hall Show is on Saturday commencing at 2.30pm with prizes being presented at 4pm by Justin Leigh, BBC Spotlight presenter.

Snooker Club AGM will be held on Friday at 7.30pm in the Club Room - Membership fees are due on the night. Anyone interested in joining the Snooker Club welcome to attend the meeting.

Annual Village Hall Race Night is being held on Friday, October 17. Doors open 7pm with the first race at 7.30pm.

WOMEN'S INSTITUTE: On Thursday at 7.15pm at the Village Hall, we are looking forward to Lorraine and Sue who are going to demonstrate how to cover boxes, this should be a very interesting evening. Come and join us for a cup of tea and delicious cakes. Church of England School: The pupils held their Harvest Festival service in the parish church of St Corentyn. Father Shane welcomed the children, staff, parents and friends. The children sang Autumn Days, Thank You for the Harvest and Praise and Thanksgiving. Prayers were led by Lucy and Isaac with the reading given by Laura Taylor. During the service the children made a Harvest Rainbow with the different colours of the fruit and vegetables. The Head, Lisa Newberry, thanked the children and staff for a wonderful service and also thanked Mr Biggs the organist..

ST CORENTYN'S: Father Shane led the Harvest Festival service on Sunday morning. The welcome was given by churchwarden Priscilla Oates. Readings were by Jill Bayliss and Priscilla and the Psalm read by Margaret Bostock.

The Ellecombe Chimes were rung by Marian Jennings and Brenda Lawrance.

Priscilla announced that the scaffolding around the tower would be coming down this week and bell ringing could get under way again on October 7 for practice, the tower certainly looks good after being re-pointed.

The Archdeacon attended the church coffee morning on Thursday before going on to visit the school.

METHODIST CHURCH: The Rev Steve Swann led the morning Service on Sunday reading religious extracts from a book by Nick Fawcett. The offering was taken up by Sybil Benney and the flowers given by Anne Gendall.

The chapel was beautifully decorated for the children's Harvest Festival held on Thursday with some beautiful displays showing what is harvested from the ground, the fields and orchards and the sea, organised by Julie Swann. Every child from the school attended and took part in the various activities - bread making which they took back to school to bake, friendship bracelets, clay pots and planting daffodil bulbs in pots.

Mo Russell displayed her spinning skills to the children showing how a sheep's fleece is spun into a skein of wool.

On Sunday our family service at 11am will be led by Esther Benney.
