On Sunday there are local arrangements, meet at the chapel.

ShoeBox Appeal - This year the shoe box appeal is different. Link to Hope is a Christian charity dedicated to rebuilding lives and communities in Eastern Europe. There is a choice of filling a shoebox for a family or the elderly. Leaflets are in the entrance hall. The boxes must be returned to the Chapel on Sunday, November, the date of our next family service when Julie Swann will lead the service.

C of E PRIMARY SCHOOL: On Friday we are having a Big Breakfast from 8.15-9.30am - adults £5, children £2.00 - everyone welcome.

WOMEN’S INSTITUTE: This time last year umbrella's were needed for our journey, however, this year summer dresses and short sleeved tops were the order of the day going to Cury Hall for our monthly meeting. It's always lovely to see everyone and catch up on all the gossip and news, just goes to show that WI meetings are not all about cake making and craft work, it's a great place to find new friends with common interests. Everyone is more than welcome to join us.

Our preliminaries this month took longer as there was so much to discuss. The Barn Dance was a tremendous success and we're hoping to stage another over the coming months. Then there is the Wadebridge trip on October 25, there are still a few tickets left so it's not too late to join us.

The WI Baton was also on the agenda and a couple of ladies are keeping us posted as to when and where it will pass through Helston and the plans for the big day.

It was now time to get stuck into the glue and fiddly bits of paper flowers to make and decorate our home made gift boxes – members were so quiet trying to fold and stick the paper boxes. It was fun to see some of them plonked precariously on the table afterwards and even funnier trying to thread the ribbons through the lids. Our many thanks have to go to Sue for helping us all.

A delicious and excellent supper was then eaten, thanks to all who arranged this.

After supper M brought along the setting for our Helston Fatstock entry. Ideas were readily promoted and it was difficult to find the best as they all had merit. The components we intend to use were fantastic and could see a lot of hard work had gone into them. Let’s keep our fingers crossed that it all comes together.

Flowers entered for flower of the month competition were “blooming lovely”. Members meet on the first Thursday of every month at 7.15pm in Cury Hall and next month we have some Tales of an Obsessed Knitter to look forward to.
